Unsung HeroesNaked Raygun

You may ask yourself, "Who the hell is this loser to criticize Naked Raygun?" and you're right. Any harsh words on my part could be the result of deep seated resentment from the time my goofy band opened up for them at their first-ever show in Champaign Il. The incredible experience of opening for my heros was only slightly dampened when they claimed that their favorite song of ours was the one song in which I didn't sing. Coincidence? I think not. Seriously though, these guys had literally inspired us to start a band with little more than a month to go before they came to play our town, and as a result, we had a short but glorious run in our town. I would add that the star that burns the brightest also burns the shortest, if not for the fact that I have a history as the weak link in a line of mediocre bands. In any case, we can only hope that these re-releases will inspire a hint of the same manic creativity that was Naked Raygun.

This Just in... House of Neil brings you a disenting opinion. Read about it in the rebuttal...

Hell on Wheels: A Tour Stories Compilation by Greg Jacobs (Editor)
This book features tour stories of many punk bands of the eraas told by the bands themselves. There is at least one Naked Raygun story, and the book is supposed to be good.

Piero Scaruffi's Musical Page: It's in Italian I think. That's funny, right?

Maximum Rock and Roll: Issue 112
This issue features an interview with Steve Albini. It's mostly about Sénor Steve, but he does go into a liitle detail about Naked Raygun, especially the early days. There's a lot of interesting tidbits about other bands as well. It seems to make appearances on the web every so often, but doesn't seem to stick around. Do a search for Steve Albini or Action Park.

All Things Naked Raygun: Well not really. A discography and some interviews.
